There and Back again, ING's Cassandra Tale (Christopher Reedijk, Gary Stewart, ING)

Slides: https://www.slideshare.net/DataStax/there-and-back-again-ings-cassandra-tale-christopher-reedijk-gary-stewart-ing-c-summit-2016 | ING has been using Cassandra in production for almost 2 years now. The road to get there was often unexpected, dark and gloomy however the rewards always made it worthwhile in the end. We needed to learn through experience as the paradigm shift of moving to distributed NoSQL databases is a real battle on many levels. During this epic journey we realized early on that we needed to create a culture of talking about failures to help DevOps squads to not repeat our mistakes. What better way to achieve this culture than to lead by example. In this talk, we are going to share some of our failures and sometimes ignorance to using Cassandra and how conquered them. The story will build up from novice to advanced Cassandra knowledge whilst also focusing on the culture and mindset of teams to adapt to this paradigm shift. About the Speakers Christopher Reedijk Chapter Lead, ING Chris is a trainer, pioneer and evangelist for NoSQL technology within ING.
