So what better way to learn than to participate in a actual design session? There will be no slides in this presentation. Driven entirely from audience feedback using only a whiteboard (or two), we will work with the audience to come up with an application idea and do three things: - design a performant, scalable data model - discuss software development techniques for building and testing - walk through operationalization considerations All of the above will be driven by solely by audience feedback and participation. We will rely on our extensive experience writing apps, running production clusters and engaging with the community to talk through the important aspects as we go. About the Speakers Jon Haddad Consultant, The Last Pickle Jon Haddad has 15 years experience in both development and operations. For the last 11 years, he's worked at various startups in southern California. In a past life, he put Cassandra in production and co-wrote cqlengine, the Python object mapper for CQL. After 2 years as an evangelist at DataStax, he is now Principal Consultant at The Last Pickle, helping customers of all size succeed with Apache Cassandra. Nate McCall CTO, The Last Pickle Nate McCall has 16 years of server-side systems and software development experience. He started his involvement in the Cassandra community in the late fall of 2009 when he became one of the original developers on the Hector Java client. He has contributed a number of patches over the years to the Apache Cassandra code base and continues to be actively involved on the mail lists, issue system and IRC. He has been a DataStax MVP every year since the inception of the program.
