Moving from Experiment to Production (Christos Kalantzis, DataScale)

Slides: https://www.slideshare.net/DataStax/moving-from-experiment-to-production-christos-kalantzis-datascale-cassandra-summit-2016 | Congratulations! You've taken the plunge into distributed Databases. Now what? How do you grow and manage your Cassandra usage from your first initial project to a full Center of Excellence within your organization? This talk I will explore a path from experimentation to building a DB Engineering team to run, integrate and guide your organization in its Cassandra usage. I will use my experience at Netflix and the knowledge accumulated over the last 5 years talking to organizations who have also struggled with how much to invest in Cassandra at different life cycles of their usage. About the Speaker Christos Kalantzis is a Technologist, Data Enthusiast, Blogger and Geek. He's interested in big distributed databases and how to extract value from them. Christos grew up in Montreal, where he started his career as a DBA. He moved to Silicon Valley where he built and lead engineering teams for YouSendIt and Netflix. He's also focused on solving at scale run-time databases using sharded RDBMS and NoSQL products. He is an Apache Cassandra MVP.
