Instance variables are a popular feature of the Ruby programming language, and many people enjoy using them. They are so popular that the Ruby core team has done lots of work to speed them up. But we can do even better to speed them up by using a technique called "Object Shapes". In this presentation we'll learn about what object shapes are, how they are implemented, how how they can be used to speed up getting and setting instance variables.
