Day 2 Panel: Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF)
Update on the CNCF and features a special announcement! Panel members include Sarah Novotny (Kubernetes Community Lead, Google and Kubernetes), Chris Aniszczyk (VP of Developer Programs, The Linux Foundation), Jonathan Boulle (Developer / Team Lead, CoreOS), and Alexis Richardson (Co-founder and CEO, Weaveworks) Sarah Novotny leads the Kubernetes Community Program for Google. She has long been an Open Source community champion and ran large scale technology infrastructures before web-scale had a name. In 2001, she co-founded Blue Gecko, a remote database administration company which was sold to DatAvail in 2012. She has curated teams, been a leader in customer communities focused on high availability web application and platform delivery and is a program chair emeritus for O’Reilly Media’s OSCON. Chris Aniszczyk brings more than 15 years experience as The Linux Foundation’s vice president of Developer Programs. His work is focused on working with developer community to advance open source projects at scale. Previously Aniszczyk served as Twitter's head of open source, where he led a team of developer advocates and was responsible for Twitter's open source engineering, strategy and culture. He has also contributed to Gentoo Linux and served on the Eclipse Foundation's Board of Directors and the Java Community Process Executive Committee. An engineer by trade, Aniszczyk brings a passion for both open source and community development to the organization. Jonathan Boulle works at CoreOS on all things distributed and all things contained. He's contributed heavily to etcd and fleet, lead the development of the App Container (appc) specification and rkt, the first appc runtime, as well as the upstream Kubernetes project. Prior to CoreOS, he worked at Twitter on their cluster management platform based on Mesos and Aurora. He's passionate about Linux, F/OSS, the Oxford comma, and developing well-defined systems that scale. Alexis is the co-founder and CEO of Weaveworks and an on the CNCF TOC. Previously he was at Pivotal, as head of products for Spring, RabbitMQ, Redis, and vFabric. Alexis co-founded RabbitMQ, and was CEO of the Rabbit company acquired by VMware in 2010, where he worked on numerous cloud platforms. Rumours persist that he co-founded several other software companies including Cohesive Networks, after a career as a prop trader in fixed income derivatives, and a misspent youth studying and teaching mathematical logic.
