JAPAN has been operating the largest Internet Portal Site in Japan since 1996, currently reaching 81% of the entire Japanese Internet users, generating 65 billion page views per month through their variety of services and ad promotion. Chef is widely used within Yahoo! JAPAN to manage the infrastructure that runs these services, transforming what used to be a time consuming and error prone tasks into a fully automated set of services. Through this presentation, Yahoo! JAPAN will introduce their journey to build their automated infrastructure to a massive scale, which was both challenging and rewarding.
