Panel: Inside Rust - Mara Bos, Niko Matsakis, Jonathan Pallant
We talk to people that are actively involved with building Rust about their work. What are the inner workings of the project? What's coming in the 2024 edition? Luca Palmieri will talk about those and other questions with our panelists. 🦀 *About Mara Bos* 🦀 Mara Bos (https://twitter.com/m_ou_se) has been a member of the Rust project since 2020, where she leads the Rust library team and is a member of the Rust leadership council. She wrote Rust Atomics and Locks and founded Fusion Engineering, a company making drone flight controllers in Rust. 🦀 *About Niko Matsakis* 🦀 Nicholas Matsakis (https://twitter.com/nikomatsakis) is a Senior Principal Engineer at AWS and lead of the open-source Rust language design team. He has worked on Rust since 2011, and led the design of its “secret sauce”, the borrow checker. He has played a number of other roles in Rust over the years, such as being a member of the Rust core team, the lead of the Rust compiler team, and helping to launch the Rust Foundation. Prior to working on Rust, he completed a PhD at ETH Zurich and did his undergraduate study at MIT. 🦀 *About Jonathan Pallant* 🦀 (https://hachyderm.io/@thejpster) Rust programmer since 2016. Member of the Rust Leadership Council. Co-founder of the Rust Embedded Working Group. Full-time Rust consultant and trainer. Part-time writer/designer of a home-brew open source Operating System in Rust and the open-source computer it runs on. Can be blamed for Rust support for: PS/2 Keyboards, SD Cards on microcontrollers, several RTOSes, the RP2040 microcontroller, the BeagleBoard X15, the Nordic nRF9160, and probably more I’ve forgotten.
