Bio: Laura Gabrysiak is a Data Scientist Manager at Visa Consulting & Analytics in the payments industry. She develops statistical models and decision analytics tools, enabling her clients to leverage massive amounts of data into actionable Machine Learning (ML) models and implement Artificial Intelligence (AI). Outside of work, Laura is building the local data science community in Miami. She is a Founder of R-Ladies Miami, to promote diversity in the R community with currently ~ 800 members. She is also the youngest and only female member of the Industry Advisory Board of the Miami Institute for Data Science and Computing (IDSC) at the University of Miami. Laura has extensive professional experience in Statistical Modeling and User Research in both academia and industry. She worked several years at the German Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Berlin (DFKI) and at companies e.g SAP creating new impactful data products. Laura relocated a couple of years to Miami from Berlin, and she speaks fluently five languages. She is an avid and enthusiastic rock climber, and in her spare time, she is traveling or on her road bike. Education: Laura holds a BSc. Computational Linguistics and an MSc. Information Systems from the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. She is also a graduate at Design Thinking School (dschool) from Potsdam, Germany.
