Everyone is talking about diversity and inclusion these days. But why does it really matter? And if you’ve had a hard time finding women to hire, how do you solve that problem? What are some ways companies have done D&I right, and how can you learn from them? We’ll explore some practical reasons why you should be aware of how D&I impacts your business and easy tips to begin changing how you and your team think today. We’ll also cover do’s and don’ts of how to build an inclusive team culture and creating a sustainable environment that includes everyone. About Tracy Lee Tracy is the Co-Founder of This Dot Labs, an consultancy helping teams build front end applications and is focused on changing the ratio in tech. She is also a Google Developer Expert, RxJS Core Team member, a Women Techmakers Lead, and a frequent keynote speaker at conferences. She heads up Community Relations at Node Foundation, is the host of the Modern Web podcast, organizer of This.JavaScript, Contributor Days, Google Developer Group Silicon Valley and Triangle, and RxWorkshop. He is a co-host of the Modern Web podcast, the This Dot Labs podcast, and a frequent speaker at local meetups. You can find him on Twitter @robocell or at thisdot.co/labs. Rob has had a lifelong love affair with coding. He still gets exceptionally geeked out and makes all his coworkers look when he codes up something cool. Because of this, Rob also has a passion for mentoring new and aspiring developers and finding bite-sized ways to explain difficult concepts in modern JavaScript development. The look on the face of an inspired developer who understands something they didn't before is his anti-drug. Rob has been a professional software developer for over 10 years working on everything from DoD systems to mathematical modeling software, a web developer for the last 4 years building apps for everyone from insurance companies to numismatists, and is fascinated with front-end frameworks and their power to bring ever more diverse developers into the profession. When not developing, Rob spends time keeping up with his two-year-old son, is an avid fan of JRPGs, and is obsessed with college basketball. Premier Sponsor: ag-Grid (ag-grid.com).
